earth
The planet on which we live.

Interpretation

PrithviEarth”(earth) is a magical loka. Its creation is the result of a lot of austerities. Prithvi is also a symbol of dharma, as she follows the laws of creation selflessly, not distinguishing between different beings, “high” or “low”. The player who lands in this cell, is invited to discover, realise and engage with the spirit, the intelligence, the benevolence of mother earth.

The player should, by now, see patterns of the sun, moon and neutral on the earth as those resembling the energies flowing within her and attempt to vibrate in resonance with earth around her. Having experienced the similarities between the inside and the outside, the player is inspired to delve deeper into the earth element and earth energies that are still not understood by her. The Earth element or prithvi dhātu, of the pancha māhābhūta, represents the soil, grass, mountains, rivers. It also represents the head, hair, body, nails, teeth, skin and flesh in our body.

In the realm of common experience, prithvi, is also “alive”, she is a living planet. Landing on prithvi, immediately instills in the player a “need to survive”. Survival of the fittest is the “law of the land”. The player experiences these energies, laws and is now part of this environment. She has landed on the most magical manifestation of the three gunas (binding energies – cells 70 – 72) in the whole universe. She must now continue her karmic journey. Looking ahead, she realises that she must be careful of hiṁsā (violence – cell 52) and must focus on bhakti (surrender and devotion – cell 54) for liberation.

Story

Prithvi is the Hindu goddess of the Earth. She is also known as Bhudevi, Bhumata, and Vasundhara. Prithvi is often depicted as a beautiful woman with four arms, who is seated on a lotus flower. She is usually accompanied by her two sons, the Ashvins, who are the gods of dawn and healing.

Prithvi is found in the Rig Veda, the oldest scriptures of Hinduism. In these texts, Prithvi is described as the mother of all living things. She is also seen as a symbol of fertility and abundance.

In the later Vedic texts, Prithvi comes to be seen as a more complex and powerful goddess. She is said to be the embodiment of the Earth itself, and she is associated with the forces of nature, such as earthquakes and floods. She is also seen as a protector of humans, and she is often invoked in prayers for safety and well-being.

The concept of Prithvi continues to be important in Hindu philosophy and practice. She is seen as a symbol of the Earth, and she is often invoked in prayers for the well-being of the planet.
